Whether you are new to Wildwood or new to sleepaway camp in general, we want to make things a bit easier for you to select the perfect camp. So, we have gone ahead and answered some frequently asked questions that we have gotten over the years from young men just like yourself. Also, make sure to check out the rest of our website for information on activities, trips and life at Camp Wildwood.
Q: HOW DOES A DAY WORK AT WILDWOOD? WILL I GET LOST WALKING AROUND? HOW DOES A NEW GUY KNOW WHERE TO GO?
A: Wildwood has general counselors that live with you guys and take you around camp. You can never get lost or not know where to go because they are always there for you. As far as how a day works, you get to pick your own schedule everyday by selecting from a set of activities that we outline for you. No two days are ever the same. For more information and to see a sample schedue, check out our daily activities page.
Q: WHO WATCHES ME AT NIGHT, ARE WE EVER ALONE?
A: You are never alone. There is a counselor in your cabin every night!
Q: DOES WILDWOOD HAVE A COLOR WAR?
A: Absolutely! Our Color War is four days toward the end of camp. Each year, we have different themes for the teams and wild "breaks." If you go to camp with your brother or a relative, you will always be on the same team.
Q: DOES WILDWOOD HAVE ANY BULLIES?
A:No camp ever wants bullies. That is why we meet and interview every new child that applies to Wildwood. After running a camp for so many years, we can tell which kids will make great new campers.
Q: IS THE LAKE AT WILDWOOD FREEZING? IS IT GUSHY ON THE BOTTOM?
A: Our lake is actually a huge pond called Woods Pond. It is very warm because it is only 25 feet deep in the middle. On a hot day, it warms up to about 80°. We rake out the leaves so there is no gushiness on the bottom!
