Packing Day

Awards, Packing & Banquet

It was another great summer day in Maine at Camp Wildwood, but sadly today was packing day. After scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit and cereal for breakfast and a cleaning of the bunks, we all met at the campfire for the annual awards ceremony. Staff members gave out Most Improved and Most Valuable Awards to boys in Junior and Senior Camps. After fried chicken for lunch and rest hour, the packing commenced.

The day ended with our very special Banquet Night where boys chose from a steak or lobster to go along with caesar salad, corn, clam chowder and whoopie pies. From there, we gathered in the lodge for the unveiling of the 2022 plaque and the signing of the Color War plaque by the Generals and TSOs.

Our last day of camp ended where our first one did, at the campfire. Congratulations to our special award winners. Zach Eisner and Ben Zuchorski were our Campers of the Year. Sam Mehler and Josh Felsenberg were our Athletes of the Year. T Batala was recognized as our Specialty Counselor of the Year while Harry Loraine, Ben Henkin and Cristian Godsell were our Counselors of the Year. Harry Tamis was Group Leader of the Year and Evan Weinstein was recognized as the inaugural member of the Staff Hall of Fame.

Speeches made by one member of each group were beautiful representations of this summer and what camp means to them. As Senior Mason Zelenko put it, “If you put your love into it, this camp will love you back. I will love Camp Wildwood until I die.” Good night and thank you for a wonderful summer.
